(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Closures for the Week of Sept. 25 - Oct. 1, 2020

Submitted by Tamory Winfield on

(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Closures for the Week of Sept. 25 - Oct. 1, 2020

Use I-95 & I-695 Alternate Routes

Two-way traffic will continue at the I-895 Harbor Tunnel with one lane in each direction in one tube through at least Thursday, Oct. 1. The tube closures are for ongoing work on approach walls and tile & pump replacement.  Traffic pattern for the next week features two-way in the northbound tube until approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. At that time, two-way traffic will switch to the southbound tube until approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30. At that time, two-way traffic will switch back to the northbound tube until approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

MDTA will issue additional traffic advisories as work progresses and schedules are finalized.

We remind motorists to obey speed limits and stay in your lane.

Work is part of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) three-year project to replace the 60-year-old I-895 Bridge and the Holabird Avenue exit ramp north of the Harbor Tunnel and rehabilitate the Harbor Tunnel. The project began in April 2018 and is expected to be completed in summer 2021.
