Starting Salary:
Effective Date: July 01, 2024 (Adjusted)
Police Recruit: $ 64,607
Police Officer I: $ 70,552 (Upon graduation from Academy with step increment)
Police Officer II: $ 74,792 (Upon completion of two year probationary period)
Police Cadet: $36,093
Police Officer (Lateral): $71,914*
(6% pay increase above current pay scale, but not to surpass Officer II Step 3 salary, up to maximum $80,892)
Other Salary Incentives:
Shift Differential: Up to $4,160 per year for qualifying Evening and Midnight shifts
Uniform Allowance: Up to $1,500 per year for uniform maintenance
Fitness Incentive: $1,000 per year for successful completion of fitness test
Court Overtime: Four hours of overtime compensation for off-duty attendance
College Incentive: Between $125.00 and $500.00 per year based on level of advanced education

Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Police Officer: Must be 21 prior to graduation from the Police Academy
- Police Cadet: 17-20 Years of Age
- Lateral Police Officer: Currently MPCTC Certified and in good standing with current agency or prior agency
- No Felony Convictions
- Meet The Minimum Standards Set By The Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission For Police Applicants

Getting Started:
The first step in joining the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Force is to complete the online application above and attend an applicant processing event. The online application provides several applicant processing event dates an applicant can choose to begin the hiring process. Processing events are conducted by the Recruitment and Selection Unit and will last approximately 4 hours. Processing events will incorporate the Physical Agility Test, Orientation and the Written Examination.

- Sit and Reach (1.5 inches)
- Push-Ups (18 in one minute)
- Sit-Ups (27 in one minute)
- 1.5 Mile Run (in 15 minutes & 20 Seconds)
