I-95 Express Toll Lanes (Section 100)
The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Section 100 Project Planning study was conducted to address capacity and safety needs along I-95 from the I-895(N) split to just north of MD 43 in Baltimore County. Planning is complete and the selected alternative includes construction of two Express Toll Lanes in each direction and interchange upgrades at I-895, I-695 and MD 43. Construction of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes Project is more than 50 percent complete.
I-95/MD 24
This MDTA and State Highway Administration (SHA) project will improve capacity, operations and safety for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians using MD 24 from north of MD 924 to south of Edgewood Road. The project consists of two phases. Phase 1 will grade-separate the adjacent MD 24/MD 924 intersection; widen the MD 24 northbound bridge over I-95); and reconfigure the I-95/MD 24 interchange ramps. Phase 2 will involve additional ramp changes, replacement of the MD 24 bridge over I-95 and additional improvement to the MD 24/MD 924 interchange as specified by Section 200 I-95 improvements. Phase 1 is underway and is scheduled to be completed in 2011. It is anticipated Phase 2 will be implemented as part of the Section 200 improvements.
Tollgate Road
Currently Harford County is in the planning phase for the extension of Tollgate Road from Bel Air South Parkway to Plumtree Road. The project will provide an additional route for commuters who use MD 24 as their primary route between Bel Air and I-95.
