SPEED LIMIT INCREASES TO 40 MPH

IN FAR-LEFT E-ZPASS EXPRESS LANES AT

FORT MCHENRY TUNNEL & KEY BRIDGE

 

WHAT: The speed limit in the far-left, E-ZPass Express Lanes at the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) and Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695) toll plazas will increase from 30 MPH to 40 MPH. The speed limit increase ONLY applies to the far-left lane in northbound and southbound directions at the Fort McHenry Tunnel and Key Bridge toll plazas. The increase does not apply to the remaining toll lanes.

For reference, the far-left, E-ZPass Express Lanes at the Fort McHenry Tunnel are toll lane # 14 in southbound direction and toll lane # 11 in northbound direction, and at the Key Bridge, toll lane # 7 in northbound direction (Outer Loop) and toll lane # 6 in southbound direction (Inner Loop).

WHEN: The speed limit increase will go into effect at the Fort McHenry Tunnel by the morning of Thursday, Nov. 16, and at the Key Bridge by the morning of Friday, Nov. 17.

WHY: The speed limit increase will enhance safety and help traffic flow more efficiently through the toll plazas.
