#i95bmore

WHAT: MAJOR DELAYS EXPECTED: The left lane on northbound I-95 between Exit 50 (Caton Avenue) and Exit 52 (Russell Street) will be continuously closed (24/7) for two months. The remaining three northbound I-95 traffic lanes will shift to the left in this area. To exit at Russell Street, motorists should follow signs to use Exit 50 (Caton Avenue), keep left on the ramp, continue to northbound I-95, and exit at Russell Street. In addition, Exit 51 (Washington Boulevard) will be closed 24/7 for about two weeks. The detour route will direct motorists to Russell Street (via Exit 50), to Annapolis Road, to South Monroe Street, to Washington Boulevard.

Southbound I-95 traffic lanes will shift with all four lanes to the left from the Fort McHenry Tunnel to Hanover Street. The ramp from Key Highway to southbound I-95 will be closed 24/7 for about one month. The detour route will direct motorists to East McComas Street, to Hanover Street, to southbound I-95.

WHEN: Weather permitting, the southbound I-95 traffic shift and Key Highway on-ramp closure will be in effect by Friday, June 19, for approximately one month.

Weather permitting, the northbound I-95 left lane closure and the Russell Street access via Exit 50 will be in effect by Saturday, June 20, for approximately two months.

Weather permitting, the northbound I-95 traffic shift and the Exit 51 closure will be in effect by Saturday, June 20, for approximately two weeks.

Weather permitting, the northbound I-95 Exit 55 closure will be in effect by Sunday, June 21, for approximately three weeks.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The new traffic patterns and lane/ramp closures are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.
