CHANGING TRAFFIC PATTERNS & RAMP CLOSURE ON SOUTHBOUND I-95 IN BALTIMORE THIS WEEKEND

Rain Date Sunday Night Into Monday Morning Next Week

#i95bmore

WHAT: Southbound I-95 traffic lanes will split with three lanes to the left and one lane to the right from I-395 to Exit 50 (Caton Avenue). To use Exit 50, motorists MUST be in the right lane prior to the split. In addition, the on-ramp from Washington Boulevard to southbound I-95 will be continuously closed (24/7). Traffic from southbound Washington Boulevard will be detoured to Caton Avenue, to southbound I-95. Traffic from northbound Washington Boulevard will be detoured to Bush Street, to Russell Street, to southbound I-95.

Southbound I-95

WHEN: Weather permitting, the southbound I-95 split from I-395 to Exit 50 and the Washington Boulevard on-ramp closure will be in effect by Sunday, June 28, for approximately three to four weeks. In the event of inclement weather or other variables, the split and on-ramp closure will be in effect by Monday, June 29.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The split traffic patterns and closure are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.

REMINDER: Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) equipment is deployed on northbound I-95 between Exit 50 (Caton Avenue) and the Fort McHenry Tunnel. The work-zone speed limit is 50 mph on northbound and southbound I-95.
