Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns
Scheduled for the Week of Sept. 22 – 28
All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

Reminder: No two-way traffic operations as of Tuesday, Sept. 24. Westbound span Bay Bridge rehabilitation work starts Sept. 30.
The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from midnight to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.
The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.
One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.
One lane of the westbound span may be closed Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.
When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span. Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.
Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.
