Bay Bridge (US 50/301)

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of April 18 – 24, 2021

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

Overnight work on the westbound span includes deck/joint repairs and replacements that results in steel plates placed in the center and left lanes. Work and required use of steel plates is expected to wrap up by the end of May.

Note: Overnight closures may start earlier if traffic volumes allow. Motorists advised to call 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) for 24/7 bridge conditions.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

E-ZPass Reminder:  In order to bring DriveEzMD online April 29, the MDTA’s tolling customer service operations and system must be taken down temporarily from Tuesday, April 20, through Wednesday, April 28. Trips that are made during the down time will be queued and will post to E-ZPass accounts in the first few weeks of the new system’s launch on April 29. All customers will remain responsible for tolls incurred at MDTA facilities during the transition period. Learn more here.

Tolling Reminder:  All-electronic tolling is permanent statewide. Standard Video Toll rates apply for any trips not paid with a valid E-ZPass at toll facilities statewide. Pay the lowest tolls with E-ZPass Maryland. Sign-up is available 24/7 at ezpassmd.com.
