#895BMORE BRIDGE TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGE
Four Lanes (Two in Each Direction) Open North of Tunnel
Holabird Avenue Ramp Reopens; One Lane in Each Direction Through Tunnel
Continue to Avoid I-895 and Use I-695/Key Bridge or I-95/Fort McHenry Tunnel
WHAT: Four lanes of traffic – two lanes in each direction – will be open on I-895 north of the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel on the recently constructed bridge. In addition, the Holabird Avenue exit ramp has also reopened. One lane of traffic in each direction will continue through the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel up to the toll plaza structure until early 2021 while crews complete project work.
WHEN: Weather permitting, Friday, December 4, crews will have restored four lanes of traffic on I-895 north of the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel.
Note: Motorists should anticipate the return of regular off-peak Baltimore Harbor Tunnel tube closures for routine maintenance operations in 2021.
WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The traffic pattern changes are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) three-year, $189 million I-895 Bridge Project to replace the 60-year-old bridges and Holabird Avenue exit ramp north of the Harbor Tunnel, and rehabilitate the Harbor Tunnel. The project began in April 2018 and is expected to be completed in summer 2021. For more details on the project, visit 895bmore.com.
TOLLING REMINDER: All-electronic tolling is permanent statewide. Effective January 1, 2021, standard Video Toll rates will apply for any trips not paid with a valid E-ZPass at toll facilities statewide. Pay the lowest tolls with E-ZPass Maryland. Sign-up is available 24/7 at ezpassmd.com.
