TRAFFIC LANES SHIFT ON SOUTHBOUND I-95 IN BALTIMORE CITY NEXT WEEK

**UPDATED APRIL 9**

TRAFFIC LANES SHIFT ON SOUTHBOUND I-95 IN

BALTIMORE CITY NEXT WEEK

Russell Street On-Ramp & Exit Temporarily Closed Overnight;

#i95bmore

WHAT: Weather permitting, southbound I-95 traffic lanes will shift between Washington Boulevard and Caton Avenue, with all lanes to the right. During this phase, there is no merge lane on southbound I-95 for the Washington Boulevard on-ramp and for the Caton Avenue exit (Exit 50). Traffic entering southbound I-95 from Washington Boulevard must YIELD.

4shift

Southbound I-95

Weather permitting, the ramp from southbound Russell Street to southbound I-95 will be closed temporarily to traffic. The detour route will direct motorists to the first ramp toward Westport, to Annapolis Road, to Monroe Street, to Washington Boulevard, to southbound I-95.

Weather permitting, the ramp from northbound I-95 to Russell Street (Exit 52) will be closed temporarily to traffic. The detour route will direct motorists to I-395 (Exit 53), to Lee Street, to Russell Street.

WHEN: The southbound I-95 shift will be in effect by Sunday, April 12, for approximately six weeks. Due to inclement weather, originally scheduled for April 8 has been rescheduled for this date.

The southbound Russell Street ramp to southbound I-95 will close Wednesday, April 8, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. The ramp from northbound I-95 to Russell Street (Exit 52) will close Thursday, April 9, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. In the event of inclement weather, either of the Russell Street ramps may close overnight on Friday, April 10**, or Sunday, April 12.

**Note: If needed, work closure will begin after the Baltimore Orioles opening game is over and stadium traffic has cleared.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The new traffic patterns are part of the Maryland Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.

Motorists traveling thru Baltimore City should use I-695/Key Bridge or I-895/Harbor Tunnel. Use alternate routes entering and exiting Baltimore City. Work-zone speed limits are reduced to 50 mph on I-95.
