CHANGING TRAFFIC PATTERNS ON SOUTHBOUND I-95 IN BALTIMORE TOMORROW

#i95bmore

WHAT: Southbound I-95 traffic lanes will shift with all four lanes to the left of the work area between the Washington Boulevard on-ramp and Exit 50 (Caton Avenue).  The on-ramp from Washington Boulevard to southbound I-95 remains closed 24/7. Traffic from southbound Washington Boulevard detours to Caton Avenue, to southbound I-95. Traffic from northbound Washington Boulevard detours to Bush Street, to Russell Street, to southbound I-95.

WHEN: Weather permitting, the southbound I-95 shift will be in effect by Friday, Sept. 4, for about two to three weeks.  The Washington Boulevard on-ramp will reopen after   this stage.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work: The traffic shift is part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) two-year, $64 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps in Baltimore City.

REMINDERS:

  • The on-ramp from Hanover Street to southbound I-95 is closed 24/7 until late September.  Follow detours.
  • Use I-695 or I-895 if traveling thru Baltimore City.
  • Work-zone speed limits on southbound I-95 are reduced to 50 mph.
