Bay Bridge (US 50/301)

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of Oct. 11 – 17, 2020

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

Note: Overnight closures may start earlier if traffic volumes allow. Motorists advised to call 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) for 24/7 bridge conditions.

Overnight/off-peak work on the westbound span will include deck/joint repairs and replacements that will result in periods of steel plates placed in the center and left lanes.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

Note:  Full-time all-electronic (cashless) tolling in effect. Tolls collected via gantry on Kent Island side. Three lanes merge down to two on eastbound US 50 at Oceanic Drive (Exit 32). Left lane will open to traffic when two-way is in effect on westbound bridge. Motorists should obey all signs and speed limits, as the approach to the bridge is an active work zone.
