MDTA POLICE PARTNERING WITH COMMUNITIES

AT NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENTS ACROSS MARYLAND

 #NationalNightOut

BALTIMORE, MD – Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police will join law-enforcement partners and community groups from across Maryland on Tuesday evening to celebrate the 36th annual National Night Out.

“National Night Out is a rewarding opportunity for our officers to meet and build relationships with the many communities we serve,” said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Jerry Jones. “We’re excited to continue to support this worthwhile cause.”

National Night Out is an annual campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and crime prevention strategies to make neighborhoods safer. Neighborhoods host events such as block parties, festivals and cookouts with safety demonstrations, exhibits and youth activities. MDTA Police will display police equipment, share crime prevention and traffic safety tips, and distribute recruiting information.

Officers from every MDTA Police detachment will participate and attend National Night Out events in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Charles, and Montgomery counties and Baltimore City. More than 16,000 communities and 38 million people across the country are expected to take part in this year’s event.
