We Want to Hear from You: Submit Chesapeake Bay Crossing
Tier 2 NEPA Study Public Comments by October 14
BALTIMORE, MD (October 6, 2022) – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is reminding the public to submit comments by Friday, October 14, 2022, for the Chesapeake Bay Crossing Study: Tier 2 National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) Study, which was announced by Governor Larry Hogan on June 10, 2022.
The launch of the Tier 2 NEPA Study follows completion of the Tier 1 NEPA Study, and continues efforts to provide congestion relief at the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge and its approach highways from the Severn River Bridge to the US 50/301 split. The MDTA, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, is following the well-established NEPA process to study potential improvements. This federally required process applies to all projects receiving federal funding or approval.
Three Tier 2 NEPA Study Open Houses – one virtual and two in-person meetings – one in Queen Anne’s County and one in Anne Arundel County – were held in September. A recording of the virtual Open House is available here. The Open House presentation materials are online here.
The MDTA encourages members of the public to provide comments regarding the Tier 2 NEPA Study by Friday, October 14, 2022. Comments may be submitted through the remainder of the comment period via various methods:
