MDTA HOSTS INDUSTRY FORUM FOR BAY BRIDGE PROTECTION PROJECT
BALTIMORE (Oct. 20, 2025) – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) hosted an industry forum today for the Bay Bridge Protection Project. During the forum, MDTA representatives provided an overview of the anticipated Design-Build process and engaged with potential heavy marine contractors, consultants, and subcontractors. The forum also informed industry stakeholders about the upcoming Request for Proposals, which is anticipated to be released in Winter 2025.
“The MDTA remains serious about safety and is committed to infrastructure improvements at our toll facilities,” said MDTA Executive Director Bruce Gartner. “This industry forum serves as an opportunity to bring together the marine industry’s prime contractors and subcontractors to learn more about this upcoming project.”
This Design-Build project will result in the construction of enhanced protection for the Bay Bridge, valued at approximately $177 million.
Open to industry professionals, the forum featured a presentation from MDTA on the Design-Build project delivery method, procurement process, and opportunities for Minority Business Enterprises. Participants were able to ask questions about the upcoming procurement, and all forum materials will be posted to the website following the event.
