Holiday Travel Tips For Maryland’s Toll Facilities

BALTIMORE, MD – With the July 4^th holiday falling on a Thursday this year, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) anticipates heavy traffic volumes on the Bay Bridge starting Wednesday, July 3, through Sunday, July 7.  

On Wednesday, June 5, at approximately 11 a.m., the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Maryland will be crossing the westbound span of the Bay Bridge. The right and center lanes (buffer lane) will be closed temporarily while runners make their way across the bridge. Minimal traffic delays are expected. Please use caution when traveling the bridge.

As you’ve more than likely noticed, the severe weather season is upon us.  Hot and humid days bring the potential for thunderstorms, many of which can produce heavy rains, dangerous lighting and powerful winds.

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.
