I-695 Southeast Preservation - Home

As part of MDTA's preservation program to enhance safety and reliability along the I-695 corridor in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County the MDTA is initiating multiple projects for rehabilitating critical infrastructure, including bridges, roadways, and support facilities, to ensure long-term functionality and resilience.

CURTIS CREEK DRAWBRIDGE REHABILITATION AND RESILIENCY PROJECT 695 Project Update! New Traffic Pattern - August 2026

  • Beginning August 19, weather permitting, the Inner Loop of I-695 will be closed between Quarantine Road (Exit 1) and MD 10 (Exit 2).
  • Two-way traffic will operate on the Outer Loop I-695 (one lane in each direction).
  • Truck restrictions: No over-sized loads will be permitted between Exit 1 (Quarantine Road) and Exit 2 (MD 10) until the project is completed.


Beginning July 31, weather permitting, I-695 will reopen to 2 lanes in each direction north of Bear Creek. This traffic pattern will remain in place throughout the construction for the Key Bridge Rebuild.
• The I-695 Outer Loop will reopen to 2 lanes of travel north of Bear Creek and throughout the project area.
• The I-695 Inner Loop will reopen to 2 lanes of travel from Exit 43 until just past the MD 157 (Peninsula Boulevard) on-ramp.
• There will only be one travel lane in each direction across Bear Creek.
• Ongoing Bear Creek bridge maintenance will take place during the daytime hours and noise may be heard in the project area.
• Access to I-695 Outer Loop from Broening Highway remains open via exiting turnaround; there is no stopping or parking along the loop road.
