MAJOR CHANGES TO TRAFFIC PATTERNS ON

I-695 AT CURTIS CREEK DRAWBRIDGE BEGIN FRIDAY

Ramp from Northbound MD 10 to Outer Loop I-695 Closed 24/7

Expect delays during peak travel times

WHAT:   Both directions of I-695 will be closed temporarily to traffic between Quarantine Road (Exit 1) and MD 10 (Exit 2).  Weather permitting, this will occur Friday, July 13, through Sunday, July 15, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. 

  • The Inner Loop detour route will direct motorists to Quarantine Road, to Pennington Avenue, to Ordnance Road, to northbound MD 10, to Inner Loop I-695.  The Outer Loop detour route will direct motorists to southbound MD 10, to Ordnance Road, to  Pennington Avenue, to Hawkins Point Road, to Fort Armistead Road, to Outer Loop I-695.  The ramp from northbound MD 10 to Outer Loop I-695 will be closed 24/7 to traffic, and the Inner Loop I-695 will be reduced to one lane 24/7 between Quarantine Road (Exit 1) and MD 10 (Exit 2).  Weather permitting, these closures will occur Friday, July 13, through November 2018.
  • The detour route will direct motorists to Ordnance Road, to Pennington Avenue, to Hawkins Point Road, to Fort Armistead Road, to Outer Loop I-695.  The Outer Loop I-695 will be closed 24/7 between Exit 2 (MD 10) and Exit 1 (Quarantine Road).  Weather permitting, this closure will occur Monday, July 16, through November 2018.    Two-way traffic will operate on the Inner Loop I-695 (one lane open in each direction).

Use I-95/Fort McHenry Tunnel and I-895/Baltimore Harbor Tunnel as alternative routes.  Expect delays during peak travel times.

 

WHY:   Your Toll Dollars At Work.  The closures are part of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) $20 million project to rehabilitate the structural, mechanical and electrical components of the Curtis Creek Drawbridge.
