Major Roadwork on I-95 in Baltimore City Ends October 2015

Full Project Complete in Summer 2016

Toll Dollars at WorkA major project is underway to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and ramps between the Fort McHenry Tunnel and Caton Avenue (Exit 50). The $64 million, approximately five mile project includes numerous traffic pattern changes, detours and ramp closures.

The project began in March 2014 and major roadwork was completed in October 2015. Construction activities and lane or ramp closures may still occur until the entire project is complete in summer 2016.

WHAT DRIVERS CAN EXPECT:

  • EXPECT DELAYS in and around work zones.
  • Travel lanes will be reduced in width during traffic shifts.
  • Construction will result in shifts in traffic patterns throughout the project duration.
  • Concrete barrier walls will separate traffic from the work zone and opposing vehicles.
  • Use alternate routes in and out of Baltimore to avoid delays (MD 295, I-695 or I-895).
