FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb. 10, 2015 Contact: John Sales 410-537-1017 FINAL STAGE OF CONCRETE REPAIR & TOLL BOOTH REPLACEMENT AT BAY BRIDGE TOLL PLAZA Toll Lanes 1-3 Will Close 24/7 For Work WHAT: Toll lanes 1-3 and the associated toll booths at the Bay Bridge toll plaza (eastbound US 50) will be continuously (24/7) closed, and toll lanes 4-6 will reopen to traffic. Motorists should use the remaining open toll lanes and booths to the right of toll lanes 1-3. Trucks should continue using the three far right toll lanes. Pay attention to overhead and portable electronic signs. During daytime lane closures on the eastbound span, toll lanes 4-7 will be directed onto the westbound bridge in contra-flow traffic. Toll lanes 8 -11 will be directed onto the eastbound span in the open eastbound lane. During peak hours, toll lanes 4 and 5 will be directed onto the westbound bridge in contra-flow traffic and toll lanes 6-11 will be directed onto the eastbound span. WHEN: Weather permitting, toll lanes 1-3 will close Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 9 p.m. for approximately eight weeks. Toll lanes 4-6 will reopen by 5 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12. WHY: Toll Dollars At Work. The toll booth lane closures are part of two Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) projects. One is the $4.5 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete pavement on the approach to the Bay Bridge toll plaza along eastbound US 50. The second is the $4.8 million project to replace the toll booths at the Bay Bridge toll plaza. Both projects are expected to be complete in spring 2015.
