MDTA POLICE TARGETED DANGEROUS DRIVING DURING ST. PATRICK’S DAY WEEKEND

Investigators Made Additional Arrests in DUI Warrant Cases

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 20, 2024) – Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Officers conducted high visibility traffic enforcement across the state during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Officers focused on the leading causes of crashes including impaired and aggressive driving. MDTA Police Officers conducted more than 490 traffic stops and removed 14 impaired drivers from Maryland roadways.

In addition to high visibility enforcement, MDTA Police investigators led a warrant initiative focused on locating and arresting fugitives with DUI-related warrants. Officers made 16 arrests and cleared 20 open warrants.

Additional enforcement efforts are planned throughout the year. To report dangerous driving on Maryland toll roads, contact MDTA Police Dispatch at 410-537-7911.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the eighth-largest law enforcement agency in the State with more than 500 sworn and civilian law enforcement professionals. MDTA Police Officers provide law enforcement services at the MDTA’s highways, bridges, and tunnels, at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, and at the Port of Baltimore.
