The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the seventh-largest law-enforcement agency in the state, with more than 600 sworn and civilian law-enforcement professionals. MDTA Police Officers provide law enforcement at the MDTA's highways, bridges and tunnels, BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport and the Port of Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police will join law-enforcement agencies, the Maryland Highway Safety Office and highway-safety advocates in renewing a pledge to save lives during the annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign.
"Beginning with Memorial Day weekend, millions of drivers and their families will travel MDTA highways, bridges and tunnels this summer vacation season. MDTA Police Officers are making sure that everyone is buckled up - the single most important thing you can do to keep yourself and your loved ones safe in a crash," said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Jerry Jones.
According to recent figures released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), from 2010 to 2014, seatbelts saved nearly 63,000 lives. Unfortunately, at the other end of the spectrum, nearly half of the 21,022 passenger-vehicle occupants killed in crashes in 2014 were unrestrained.
