MDTA POLICE RECOVER STOLEN AUTO VALUED AT $33,000

BALTIMORE, MD - Together with members of the Baltimore Regional Auto Theft Task Force, Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police detectives yesterday located and recovered a 2014 BMW model X5 SUV that was stolen on Jan.12 in Anne Arundel County from the AVIS Rental Car facility at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.
 
"We appreciate our continued and successful partnership with the Baltimore Regional Auto Theft Task Force," said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Jerry Jones. "Working together with our law-enforcement partners in the region helps us reduce crime throughout Maryland."
 
Police recovered the BMW on Loch Raven Boulevard in Baltimore. Timothy Michael Lynn of Brooklyn, Md., was operating the vehicle and was apprehended without incident. Detectives charged Lynn with Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, Theft from $10,000 - under $100,000, Unlawful removal of property and Rogue and vagabond. He currently is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $15,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing.
 
The Baltimore Regional Auto Theft Task Force is a multi-agency/jurisdictional effort to reduce auto theft and associated crimes in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The task force is comprised of State and local law-enforcement agencies from the region.
 
The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the seventh-largest law-enforcement agency in the State, with more than 600 sworn and civilian law-enforcement professionals. MDTA Police officers provide law enforcement at the MDTA's highways, bridges and tunnels; at BWI Marshall Airport; and at the Port of Baltimore.
