MDTA POLICE RECOVER LOADED GUN AND DRUGS AFTER BALTIMORE MAN RESISTS ARREST

BALTIMORE, MD – On Sunday, June 30, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police arrested a Baltimore man during a traffic stop on I-95 in Baltimore City. The man, 34-year-old Orlando Rogers, was arrested for illegally possessing a gun and drugs and resisting arrest.

At approximately 2:28 a.m., an MDTA Police Officer stopped Mr. Orlando on southbound I-95 in Baltimore City for speeding. Mr. Orlando was driving a 2019 Toyota Camry. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a large amount of suspected cocaine and heroin and a loaded handgun. When officers attempted to place Mr. Orlando into handcuffs, he began to run on foot from the traffic stop and a struggle ensued. Officers were eventually able to place Mr. Orlando under arrest without further incident. The investigation revealed that Mr. Orlando is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a gun and ammunition. He was taken to the Tunnel Command Detachment for processing.

The MDTA Police charged Mr. Orlando with illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a weapon while engaged in drug trafficking, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, illegally removing the serial number from a firearm, drug possession and resisting arrest. Mr. Orlando was taken to Baltimore City Central Booking and is being held without bail.
