DRIVING STOLEN VEHICLE IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Suspect Wanted by Rockville City & Montgomery County Police Departments

 

SILVER SPRING, Md. (February 20, 2024) – Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Officers arrested a Baltimore man wanted on multiple warrants and driving a stolen vehicle along the Intercounty Connector (ICC)/MD 200 yesterday afternoon.

At 1:45 p.m. on Monday, an MDTA Police Officer assigned to the ICC Detachment stopped to assist a motorist after officers observed the driver pull over and inspect one of the vehicle’s tires near New Hampshire Avenue (Exit 13). During that encounter, officers learned that the temporary South Carolina registration displayed on the black Honda Accord did not belong on the vehicle.

Officers later learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Police Department, and the driver, 30-year-old Darlyn M. Mejia Trochez of Baltimore, was wanted by the Rockville City and the Montgomery County Police departments for traffic charges. Officers took Mejia Trochez into custody and transported him to the Montgomery County Detention Center without incident.

Those charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MDTA Police Officers provide law enforcement services at the MDTA’s highways, bridges, and tunnels, at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, and at the Port of Baltimore.
