Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of May 9 – 15, 2021

 

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK 

 

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

Overnight work on the westbound span includes deck/joint repairs and replacements that results in steel plates placed in the center and left lanes. Work and required use of steel plates is expected to wrap up by the end of May.

Note: Overnight closures may start earlier if traffic volumes allow. Motorists advised to call 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) for 24/7 bridge conditions.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.
