I-95 ETL Northbound Extension - Reconstruction of the Abingdon Road Overpass of I-95
As part of the MDTA’s $1.1 billion program to relieve congestion and improve travel along the I-95 corridor into Harford County, the MDTA is replacing the Abingdon Road Overpass in Harford County. The overpass is being lengthened and raised slightly to provide sufficient room for the northbound ETL improvements. To avoid future disruption, the new overpass will also provide room for any potential future southbound ETL extension.
The new overpass will include:
- One lane in each direction, like today’s configuration
- Stone pattern finish
- Water quality improvements
New Abingdon Road Overpass will be similar to the recently completed Bradshaw Overpass
Construction of the Abingdon Road overpass is expected to begin in April 2021 and be complete in May 2023. The construction of the bridge will be staged with bi-directional traffic maintained in a single lane using a temporary traffic signal. Traffic delays are anticipated. Drivers using Abingdon Road should consider alternate routes.
Access to all private residences will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
