I-95 ETL Northbound Extension - Reconstruction of the Abingdon Road Overpass of I-95
Construction of the Abingdon Road overpass began in April 2021 and was completed in May 2023. The construction of the bridge was staged with bi-directional traffic maintained in a single lane using a temporary traffic signal.
The new overpass includes:
- One lane in each direction, like today’s configuration
- Stone pattern finish
- Water quality improvements

Abingdon Road Overpass at I-95 Reopened to Two-Way Traffic
The Abingdon RD overpass at I-95 has reopened to the normal two-way traffic pattern. The overpass was restricted to one-way traffic for reconstruction in April 2021 and returned to two-way traffic in May 2023. MDTA thanks local residents and motorists for their patience.

About Construction

Access to all private residences was maintained throughout the duration of the project.
