I-95 ETL Northbound Extension - Reconstruction of the Old Joppa Road Overpass at I-95

The former Old Joppa Road overpass at I-95 was more than 50 years old. The overpass needed to be lengthened and raised slightly to provide sufficient room for the northbound ETL improvements. To avoid future disruption, the new overpass provides room for a possible future southbound ETL extension, which is currently being studied.

The new overpass includes:

  • One lane in each direction
  • Stone pattern finish
  • Water quality improvements

Construction of the Old Joppa Road overpass began in October 2019 and was completed in July 2020.

While you're attending the hearing and reviewing the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and MDTA’s Recommended Preferred Alternative (Alternative C), we’ll be available to answer questions and provide helpful information about traveling Maryland roadways.
