Overview
As part of MDTA's preservation program to enhance safety and reliability along the I-695 corridor in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County the MDTA is initiating multiple projects for rehabilitating critical infrastructure, including bridges, roadways, and support facilities, to ensure long-term functionality and resilience.
The Rehabilitation of Bearings and Miscellaneous Repairs of the I-695 Bridge over Bear Creek project is being initiated following annual inspection that identified corrosion and misalignment in the bridge's structural steel bearings.
This project aims to enhance the safety and longevity of the bridges for all travelers and will include spot cleaning and painting, and the repair or replacement of bearings on the bridges carrying I-695 over Bear Creek in Baltimore County.
Construction start is estimated in Spring 2026
Construction completion estimated Spring 2028
Construction Details
This project may be subject to periodic lane closures for the safe transport of equipment and materials.
While replacing the bearings, there may be occasional traffic drags to temporarily keep vehicles off the span where work is occurring. Traffic drags involve police or other authorized vehicles stopping or slowly guiding traffic across the bridge to ensure the work area remains clear during these short operations.
