MDTA POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH

AT SOUTH LOCUST POINT MARINE TERMINAL

Witnesses Asked to Call 410-633-1130

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 11, 2024) – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police Collison Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday morning in Baltimore City. On March 10, at 4:49 a.m., MDTA Police Officers assigned to the Port of Baltimore Detachment responded to the 2000 block of East McComas Street, near the South Locust Point Marine Terminal entrance.

Responding officers located a black Nissan Maxima which had been involved in a single-vehicle crash. The driver of the Nissan, a 51-year-old Baltimore man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests the Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck the marine terminal’s gate and fencing.

This is an open and ongoing investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the MDTA Police at 410-633-1130.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the eighth-largest law enforcement agency in the State with more than 500 sworn and civilian law enforcement professionals. MDTA Police Officers provide law enforcement services at the MDTA’s highways, bridges, and tunnels, at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, and at the Port of Baltimore.
