MDTA POLICE CELEBRATE 25th ANNIVERSARY

Announce the creation of a commemorative badge

 

BALTIMORE, MD – The Maryland Transportation Authority Police (MDTA) is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with the unveiling of a special edition badge, which sworn personnel in uniforms will be wearing from Jan. 1 – March 31, 2019.  The badge features a unique Maryland flag background and the years 1994 - 2019. 

“The MDTA Police has a great history of serving the people that use our facilities by embracing our guiding principles of honesty, integrity, dignity and dedication. During the past 25 years, the agency has grown and will continue to grow to meet the needs of an ever-evolving law-enforcement landscape,” said MDTA Police Chief Col. Jerry Jones.

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police is nationally accredited and employs more than 600 sworn and civilian professionals. Formed in 1994 by an act of the Maryland General Assembly, the Maryland Toll Facilities Police combined with the Maryland Port Administration Police to form the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and would eventually become the seventh largest police department in the state of Maryland. The MDTA Police keeps Maryland’s citizens and visitors safe and secure as they use vital transportation assets like MDTA bridges, tunnels and highways, the Port of Baltimore and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or new to public service, there's a role for everyone!
