Shoreline Restoration at MDTA Police Headquarters - Home

Overview

As part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA's) preservation program to enhance safety and reliability along the I-695 corridor in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County, the MDTA is initiating multiple projects for rehabilitating critical infrastructure, including bridges, roadways, and support facilities, to ensure long-term functionality and resilience.

Scheduled to begin in Spring 2027, this project will implement a hybrid living shoreline to protect the eroding and impaired shoreline northeast and southeast of the MDTA's police headquarters. The project aims to protect critical infrastructure from wave-driven erosion under current sea level conditions, maximize potential environmental credits through shoreline restoration and planting, and enhance long-term resiliency in response to changing climate conditions.

Completion of this project is anticipated by Summer 2028.
