Drainage Improvements of I-695 at Quarantine Road Project
As part of MDTA's preservation program to enhance safety and reliability along the I-695 corridor in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County, the MDTA is initiating multiple projects for rehabilitating critical infrastructure, including bridges, roadways, and support facilities, to ensure long-term functionality and resilience.
The Quarantine Road/I-695 interchange was constructed in 1972 and then improved in 1983 and again in 2009. In 2014, a significant storm led to temporary ponding, which required the closure of the inner and outer loops of I-695 at the Quarantine Road interchange. To avoid a similar situation in the future, MDTA is planning a project to improve drainage along I-695 at the Quarantine Road interchange, while also conducting a risk assessment in the context of Climate Resiliency. This project is expected to begin in Summer 2027, with completion anticipated by Winter 2028.
