Bay Bridge (US 50/301)

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of August 25 – 28, 2024

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes and other work variables

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

The westbound span may be closed Sunday from midnight to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closure.

The eastbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. The nighttime closures feature deck removal and replacement for the eastbound bridge deck replacement project. Temporary concrete connection slabs are utilized for this crucial work, allowing for travel lanes to reopen each morning and for a smoother driving transition across work areas. Learn more here. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.

There are no scheduled lane closures between August 29 – September 2.

Note: Lane closures may start earlier if traffic volumes allow. Motorists advised to call 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) for 24/7 bridge conditions.

Travel off-peak when crossing from shore to shore. The best times to cross the Bay Bridge on weekends include:
