Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns
Scheduled for the week of September 2 – 6, 2025
All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes and other work variables.

The eastbound span may be closed Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following for preservation/maintenance work. The nighttime closures for the eastbound bridge deck replacement project. Learn more here. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.
One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.
There are no scheduled lane closures between August 28 – September 1.
The best times to travel across the Bay Bridge this Labor Day holiday period include:
- Thursday, August 28 – before 11 a.m. and after 9 p.m.
- Friday, August 29 – before 10 a.m. and after 9 p.m.
- Saturday, August 30 – before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
- Sunday, August 31 – before 11 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
- Labor Day Monday, September 1 – before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
