MDTA POLICE RECOVER DRUGS

DURING TRAFFIC STOP IN BALTIMORE

BALTIMORE, MD - On Sunday, Jan. 28, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police took a Baltimore juvenile into custody after a probable cause search lead officers to find approximately 80 individual bags of suspected cocaine.

An MDTA Police Officer stopped the juvenile on southbound Pennington Avenue in Baltimore City for registration and equipment violations. The juvenile was operating a 1999 Toyota Corolla. When the suspected cocaine was located, the juvenile was taken into custody without incident.

"A routine traffic stop led our officers to taking drugs off our streets and out of our communities," said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Jerry Jones.

The MDTA Police have requested the juvenile be charged with traffic and criminal charges in reference to the registration, equipment violations and possessing the large quality of cocaine.

After processing, officers transported the juvenile to the Baltimore City Juvenile Intake Facility.
